Carbondale Arts presents “You Don’t Have to Be Perfect, But You Could Try Harder”, a solo exhibition by Tracey Harris at the Carbondale Arts Gallery, on display August 21 - September 24, 2026. The opening reception will take place Friday, August 21, from 5-7pm at The Launchpad.
Note that there is another exhibition running concurrently (August 21 - September 24, 2026) in the gallery space: The Tiny Print Showcase juried by Johanna Mueller and Raymundo Muñoz.
Known for her razor-sharp wit and painterly precision, Tracey brings humor and critique together in her satirical book paintings - each one a playful jab at modern life, politics, and cultural absurdities. Her figurative work explores themes of identity, social norms, and resistance, all through a lens of vibrant realism and irreverent charm.

Tracey Harris, Marble, CO
Tracey Harris was born in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended the Kansas City Art Institute where she received her B.A. in Painting. She moved to London, England and attended the International Program of Art at Goldsmith’s College, London where she received her M.A. Tracey is currently represented by several art galleries throughout the country including Quidley and Company in Nantucket, MA, and Winfield Gallery in Carmel, CA. She lives off-grid with her dogs, Natalie, and Sprite, and a ferocious orange cat, Rowdy Killjoy, in glorious Marble, Colorado.
