Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else

Offerings

Creative Apprentice Program

Carbondale Arts Creative Apprentice Program (CAP) supports youth development by providing paid opportunities for youth (14-19) to work with local creative professionals on projects of community value. Our projects focus on youth development by creating spaces where youth of all backgrounds are valued, supported and nurtured by giving them the tools, skills and a platform to voice their unique perspectives. Through this process youth are able express their lived experiences, meet others with similar experiences and collaborate together, shape an individual's sense of self and together, build community.

After-School

Our after-school programs partner local artists with local schools to provide expanded access to creative opportunities for youth of all ages and backgrounds. Our after-school programs create a safe space for students to show up as who they are and explore without fear of failure in order to grow social-emotional well being and creative thinking skill sets. Often times after-school programming exposes students to a range of artistic methods and materials and gives students an opportunity to try new things.

Summer Camps

Our summer camps range from half-day to full day camps that are a few days to a few weeks long and are available to students from 7-14 years old. We offer camps in the visual and performing arts that range from painting, songwriting, hip-hop dance and music production and more. During these camps students get a chance to work with a local artist to develop new skills and meet a diverse group of people.

The summer camp schedule is typically released in early spring. Stay tuned!

We believe the arts should be accessible to everyone

Board of Directors Scholarship Fund

The Carbondale Arts Board of Directors is hosting a fundraising drive for a scholarship fund for supporting a creative summer for local youth through the month of April.

* It helps youth in our community have equitable access to amazing programming through an awesome organization!

* It helps provide an employment opportunity for a local artist - all the facilitators for summer workshops are local artists!

* It helps a family have a productive, awesome place for their kiddo to spend time for a portion of the summer!

Education is at the heart of Carbondale Arts. Whether it be arts education for students, continuing education for teachers, bilingual programming or simply furthering a passion, Carbondale Arts wants to make sure arts education is available to all in our community.

To fulfill that mission we have created Rosybelle, the Mobile Maker Bus, a dynamic, interactive and accessible mobile arts classroom and maker space. Rosybelle brings opportunity to our underserved communities through FREE supplemental school programming. Equipped with art making of all kinds, Rosybelle travels throughout our valley, inspiring and interacting with youth of all ages. We work with public and private schools, rec centers and after-school programs, as well as other non-profits in the Roaring Fork Valley and west end of Garfield County to bring the art of creativity to all.
