Artist Opportunities: October

Hello, Artists of the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond,
New opportunities for local creative involvement below...please share with other creatives!

Save the Date: 47th Annual Valley Visual Art Show
Call for entries open early November

Entry forms will be open in early November, due early December, 2025, stay tuned for the form link soon! The show runs from January 23 - February 26, 2026. Artists must submit 2 entries and the jury will choose 1 for the exhibition. Prizes given for top 3 People’s Choice Awards.

The Valley Visual Art Show is one of the longest-standing community art shows committed to showing the work of local artists. VVAS began in 1980 as a venue for local artists to share their artwork with the public. VVAS still provides this opportunity, especially for artists new to the area and budding artists, but the show has also become both a salute to the wide variety of artistic talents in our area and a time to bring the artist community together.

Roaring Fork Drawing Club
Meets every Tuesday

The Roaring Fork Drawing Club began in the fall of 2017 with a couple of art friends, Lindsay Jones (graphic designer/illustrator) and Brian Colley (painter/illustrator). Drawing Club is a free, informal social group open to all skill-levels with no teachers and no specific themes: just an opportunity to get out your sketchbook (or coloring book, notepad, bar napkin collection, etc) and meet fellow sketchers in our community. We do not provide supplies, so bring whatever you need to draw with! We kindly ask that anyone under the age of 18 be joined by a parent/guardian.

We typically meet every week in the summer, usually in and around Carbondale, and about every other week or so in fall/winter/spring. You can always message us on IG @rfdrawingclub or email us at rfdrawingclub@gmail.com with questions/comments/suggestions.

Glenwood Springs Art Guild Opportunities
Ongoing

Since 1962 the Glenwood Springs Art Guild has promoted participation in the visual arts through camaraderie, helpful and warm encouragement, and opportunities for art education. We also get together just to have fun, and to enjoy and expand our mutual interest in visual arts. We’re better because we’re together!

Some of us are professional level, others are tiptoeing into producing and exhibiting our art. New members are welcome, as are demonstrations and workshops by other local artists.

Artist Opportunity in Telluride, CO
Deadline to apply is November 12

Telluride Arts is seeking local and regional artists to exhibit at the Wilkinson Public Library for the upcoming winter exhibition cycle, December 1, 2025 – February 27, 2026.

This season features two distinct opportunities:

Solo Exhibition — “Light in the Dark” (Magazine Room): An intimate, reflective space dedicated to exploring light as a symbol of hope, introspection, and resilience.

Group Exhibition — “Beneath the Snow” (Stairwell & Second Floor Gallery): A collective celebration of the warmth, creativity, and human connection that emerge within our mountain community during the quiet months of winter.

Both exhibitions highlight 2D visual arts, including painting, photography, illustration, textile, and fashion-inspired works presented in wall format. These installations invite artists to reflect on the contrast between introspection and togetherness, light and shadow, solitude and community — themes that define life in the San Juan Mountains during the winter season.
