Presentation for the Upcoming Youth Art Park
With much excitement and anticipation the design for the Youth Art Park has begun! Local Landscape Architect and member of the Carbondale Arts Board, Nicholas DiFrank will be updating the design and managing the project, which was originally conceptualized and designed by students of Carbondale Middle School with help from Andrea Korber of Land+Shelter and Kurt Peterson of Forum Phi. On September 9th Carbondale Arts held a public Zoom meeting and presentation on the possibilities of the park to get feedback and direction. The presentation was recorded for continued public access, along with the plan documents and design explorations, available on CarbondaleCreativeDistrict.com.
Century Link Approves Mural for Their Building
Carbondale Arts has teamed up with four local artists to design and paint a community mural reflecting the themes that the people of Carbondale feel are most important to them. The mural will be located on the east-facing side of the Century Link building on South 4th Street, at the corner of Main Street, downtown in the heart of Carbondale's Creative District.
Work will begin spring 2021. Artists Gayle Embrey, Brian Colley, Vanessa Porras and Steve Keohane have worked up a design based upon input gathered from a survey conducted in the spring in which 155 community members responded to questions.
September First Friday at R2 Gallery
Carbondale Arts presents two exhibitions opening Friday, September 4th with an outdoor artist talk beginning at 5:30pm. Parallel by mixed media artists Wewer Keohane and Andrew Roberts-Gray along with a solo exhibition, “Self-Reflected Universe” by Brian Colley.
R2 Gallery will be open until 7pm that evening and can host up to 10 visitors at a time (masks and social distancing enforced). Both exhibitions will be on display September 4 - October 2
New City Market, New Mural
While many are anxiously awaiting a fancy new updated grocery store, we’re excited to see the new mural that was recently installed at it’s new residence above the entrance of the soon-to-open City Market on Hwy 133. Cheers to Reina Katzenburger and Andrew Roberts-Gray on a successful collaboration!
The Carbondale Comeback Passport: Support Local!

The 49th Annual Carbondale Mountain Fair

R2 Art Auction
The July exhibit at R2 Gallery, The Flash Card Project, is a group show featuring 50+ RFV artists. All artwork will be up for auction online through July 29.
Mountain Fair Poster Design Released!
We are beyond excited and thrilled to share with you the winning design for the 49th Annual Carbondale Mountain Fair. This design is by one of our most talented youth artists, Jade Meyer.
Artists Selected for New City Market Mural
Carbondale’s new City Market, a Kroger Co. store slated to open this fall, has selected two local artists, Andrew Roberts-Gray and Reina Katzenberger, to create a 16' x 5' mural inside the new store.

Carbondale Arts Will Participate in Giving Tuesday Now
We will be participating #GivingTuesdayNow (Tuesday, May 5th) a new global day of giving and unity that is taking place as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
Carbondale Artist Relief Fund
Carbondale Arts has received donations from community members who wish to support local creatives being economically impacted by the COVID-19 virus. With these donations, Carbondale Arts has started an Artist Relief Fund which will allocate the donations to local creatives who need help covering essential costs during this unprecedented time.
Mountain Fair T-shirt & Poster Design Contest
No matter the direction Mountain Fair takes in response to social reopening guidelines, the T-shirts will still be created. We think of this as a great opportunity to create a time capsule design to remember this historic time. Which is why we’ll be extending the deadline to submit artwork until May 1st.

Carbondale Arts Awarded Grant for Youth Art Park

Fashion Show Postponed Until November 2020
Carbondale Arts has postponed the 12th Annual Green is the New Black Fashion Extravaganza until November 12th - 14th, 2020 due to the recommendations of Garfield County Public Health in response to COVID-19.

Carbondale is an “arts” town, and is a central hub of arts activity in the Roaring Fork Valley from Aspen to Rifle. Our Mountain Fair celebrates art in all forms of expression. All of our arts and crafts are handmade by artisans locally and from around the country.
Affordable Housing Update & Market Study
The Town of Carbondale, Art Space and the CCD have finished the Market Study for affordable housing in Carbondale. The results are really interesting.
