"The Muses Don’t Tell Me Shit" by Vallee Noone

Art is inherently crazy and illogical. And we are better for it.

Carbondale Arts presents “The Muses Don’t Tell Me Shit” a solo exhibition by mixed media artist Vallee Noone at the Carbondale Arts Gallery, on display July 11 - August 14, 2025. The opening reception will take place Friday, July 11, from 5-7pm at The Launchpad, with an artist talk at 5:30pm.

“Oddly Familiar”, a solo show by painter Chad Knowles, will run concurrently (July 11 - August 14) in the second gallery space.

Vallee says this about her solo show:
When I'm drawing, I feel as though I am watching the pieces form and have very little say in the vision. It feels like someone else is pushing my hand. In fact, if I try to pursue a particular vision, the drawing falls apart quickly. It's when I surrender that the most amazing details, threads and coincidences become apparent. You could ask the muses they'd tell you there is a deeper meaning, but anyone's guess is as good as mine; I am just the machinery.

Vallee Noone is a multimedia artist and monster keeper. After a dozen years exploring the world, she realized that the place where she was born and grew up really was the best place on earth and so she came back to the Roaring Fork Valley. These days, when shes not chasing an almost two-year- old, she spends all her time creating-- mostly drawing but also everything else.

She is currently preparing for a show of hundreds of her drawings at Carbondale Arts in July, 2025.
