8th Annual Deck The Walls: An Artisanal Market
November 15-December 28, 2018
Presented each holiday season by Carbondale Arts, Deck The Walls is carefully juried and open to artists and crafts-folk all over the Roaring Fork Valley and the state of Colorado. Our goal is to provide vendors with an exceptional venue for their unique wares and to offer our community a chance to take home thoughtful and well-made local and regional goods.
Carbondale Arts is cultivating a vibrant collective of local and regional artists, designers, and hand-makers for this year’s Deck The Walls. We strive to help small businesses grow and to encourage community to engage and connect with the artisans while supporting our local economy during the holidays.
Applications will be made available in early October for our 8th annual Deck The Walls in 2018.
38th Annual Valley Visual Art Show
January 12-February 16, 2018
This annual exhibition, opening the 2nd Friday of each January, accepts only 50 artworks from 50 artists on a first-come first-served basis in an effort to keep all artwork within the gallery space at The Launchpad. As always, this show is open to everyone living in a ZIP code beginning with “816” and who is a current member of Carbondale Arts.
Our 2018 38th Annual Valley Visual Art Show is now filled. We look forward to the public opening reception with the artists on Friday, January 12, from 6-8pm! See the Valley Visual page under the R2 Gallery tab (above) for more information.

Artist Grants Available
Applications due April 6
Carbondale Arts is pleased to announce our new Artist Fellowship Program (AFP), consisting of three artist grant opportunities: The Alleghany Meadows Fellowship, The Ro Mead Community Arts Grant, and The Carbondale Arts Fellowship. The AFP is for artists and creatives of any genre, who need some funding to help them further their career, their art, or their ideas. The criteria is fairly open for these grants, and any artist residing within a ZIP code beginning with "816" may apply.
We believe that there is great value in fostering creativity and inspiration. These grants help further the mission of Carbondale Arts (building community through art) and the mission of the Carbondale Creative District (nurturing a vibrant Carbondale community through creative industry, collaboration and artistic exploration).
Applications are now available (see links below). The deadline for applications is April 6th, 2018. Please email email@example.com with questions or call the Carbondale Arts office at (970) 963-1680.
The Alleghany Meadows Fellowship awards $1,000 and has no restrictions on use. It can help an artist develop a vision, buy supplies, rent rehearsal space, or help fund a residency or workshop. The uses are limitless. This fellowship honors local ceramic artist Alleghany Meadows, who has contributed so much to furthering the arts in Carbondale. Alleghany started, and maintains, the Studio for Arts + Works (S.A.W.), and is a former Carbondale Clay Center board member. The Alleghany Meadows Fellowship is made possible by an anonymous donation. Apply at: https://carbondalearts.z2systems.com/np/clients/carbondalearts/event.jsp?event=436&
The Ro Mead Community Arts Grant awards up to $1,000 and will be awarded to projects that involve and cultivate community. This can be for a public art project to involvement in our schools or senior housing. All projects for this grant must take place within the town of Carbondale. Ro Mead, the former executive director of Carbondale Arts, was passionate about art education and community. She helped start First Fridays and The Carbondale Public Art Commission. The Ro Mead Community Arts Grant is made possible by a donation by Carly and Frosty Merriott. Apply at: https://carbondalearts.z2systems.com/np/clients/carbondalearts/event.jsp?event=441&
The Carbondale Arts Fellowship awards up to $1,000 and must be used to further an artist's career in some way. This could be through continuing education, developing a website, or even touring or installing an exhibit. Deeper consideration will be given to creatives within the 81623 ZIP code when applying for The Carbondale Arts Fellowship. Carbondale Arts' mission is "building community through art" with a focus on providing support and opportunity for local artists. The Carbondale Arts Fellowship is made possible by Carbondale Arts.
