Creative Apprentice Project: Landscape Interventions

The Carbondale Arts Apprentice Program employs youth ages 14-19 to gain creative skills and career readiness under the leadership of a creative professional. Over 5 weeks youth apprentices will be part of the creative process from concept to implementation gaining valuable insights into the creative professions, working collaboratively with professionals and peers while working on a community project.

As part of the Landscape Intervention project 3-5 teens will work with a local landscape designer to develop designs and prototypes for custom signage at Coal Basin Ranch. Designs will be developed for an entry sign at the entrance of the main parking area as well as two signs for the property perimeter.

Over the course of the project participants will learn about site research, develop design concepts, prototype their designs and present their designs to the Coal Basin representatives and Carbondale Arts staff.
