The Valley Settlement Project (VSP) is a dual generation program focused on school readiness, elementary school achievement, economic stability and community engagement for local families. The focus is low-income families who are not successfully settled or attached to the community in which they live. Carbondale Arts provides meaningful arts programming for the Mother Mentoring Program and youth including bilingual piano classes and a very large, community oriented Dia de los Muertos celebration. Learn more about the piano program on our classes page. The Dia de los Muertos celebration provides a space for altars to be set up and remain on display, supports a local authentic Mexican food caterer who provides traditional Day of the Dead foods to the community for free, performances by Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s Ballet Folklorico and an Innovation of the Dead along with the “Que Viva” lead by Thunder River Theatre.
